(OC) Ohm's Cannon and the EasyUO Taint - Conflict Pixels

Dear Reader,

It has come to my attention that a unique cannon is for sale in the trading forums.  I felt obligated to inform those people not in the know to what exactly they are bidding on - if more people new the means this item was acquired by, the illegitimate and in fact illegal and bannable means this item was acquired by, people would value it a lot less than if this item were no longer scarred.  This item has lost much sentimentality considering the dirt it has been drug through by dishonest players.  Much like a diamond, these pixels are now less beautiful simply because there is illegality behind them...

There is a great deal of information and quotes to put before you, so let's get started.

First, we must work backwards.  Starting with a thread on the Cavewright IDOC and EasyUO. A poster named GtH has something interesting to say:

First of all, people DO use EZUO on secondage.
It's pretty common knowledge that "Zakk" aka "Groovy Baby" uses EZUO. People got suspicious from his performance from his purple pots, which he does with his high ping due to playing from Korea. Later he flat out admitted it to numerous people that he did in fact use EZUO and didn't fear any repercussions from the staff.

At Cavewight's idoc everyone was going for a few items (i.e. The Cannon, Tall Statue, Iron Maiden, etc.) The guild [Uhh] got ALL of these items. Just doing the math that there were hundreds of people there, most have scavenger going for those most sought after items...and [Uhh] gets virtually ALL of them? This doesn't add up and if it isn't EZUO, it is something else that they are doing that is just as bad or worse.

So secondage has rules against EZUO, but it is documented that people still use EZUO with no repercussions. This is unfair to the people who actually follow the rules.

The staff should either
a) Start enforcing the no EZUO rule and start punishing the users.
b) Lift the EZUO ban so everyone can use it and we are all on a level playing field.
This player registered in May of this year.  That is not what I would call a veteran, so there is obviously an issue at hand if someone here less than a year is aware of the EasyUO plague on this shard.  Light Shade responds:

Whereas it is pretty obvious that many players are using EUO, it is also quite difficult to actually catch them in the act.

Simply put, being fast does not make them breaking the rules. I agree that it is VERY obvious that some people are breaking the rules and using EUO for things at IDOC's, but unfortunately it is VERY hard to prove beyond a doubt.

Sadly, I think you will have to just deal with these pathetic cheaters.

Then we receive word from Kaivan:

While I'm sure that EasyUO is actually used on UOSA against our rules, the fact is that you're asking us to enforce the rule based on flimsy evidence...
Indeed, and I am sure this will be Ohm's first defense.  However I am not calling for action.  I am just shining a light upon the use of EasyUO.  My evidence in this post would be very weak in an actual court and I have no expectations or even hopes for a ban.  However I believe there is more than enough evidence for anyone with mental capacity to agree something is up and be wary of purchasing said items and the history behind them.

Indeed, no ban will likely come of this.  However it isn't necessary.  If this item sells for millions, Ohm will have more money than he could ever want and will likely retire further.  I warn that we are entering a dark age in UOSA, and I now other veterans feel it as well.  The only things delaying the inevitable are Hydroxide's voting campaign and the fact that while they lean on the side of inaction the staff are very professional.  The economy is flush with gold, the game filled with EasyUO PvP and resource gathering, and there are more dishonest veterans around than new players.

But to continue, this thread is full of back and forth, those that deny EZUO and those that accuse.  I invite you to read the whole thread, I won't quote it here, while keeping in mind the criminal investigation principle of "paranoid deflecting." Watch closely what names call foul and which ones defend what they as veterans know to be true despite being unethical.

Let's dig a little deeper in our venture backwards.  Next is a thread where those who nabbed items, legal or legit, could brag about their haul.  Let's see what Miller had to say:

Menkaure wrote:
Who got the giant ankh?
Ohm wrote:
The ankh, chopping block, skeleton coffin and things like that poof as the house drops

Miller:
EUO didn't let you make some kind of cheat to grab those before they were deleted?
Ohm wrote:
Why use EUO when you can use Razor?

Miller:
lol
Seems Miller knows something!  Is it because he has inside information, or because he is aware of some sort of common knowledge among veterans? Capatalist had something to say earlier in the thread equally as interesting:

Capitalist wrote:
Let's discuss who thinks Eo uses EUO based on his findings.

Eo got: Cannon, Iron Maiden, one of the 2 tall statues, and the Guillotine.
Miller wrote:
lol
It seems I am not the only one suspicious.  Menkaure came to the defense.

:
Capitalist, Eo doesnt use EUO, trust me. Ive dueled the guy 100 times and he is 100% legit.
I would argue that in a duel, it is much more obvious, and 15 million+ gold isn't on the line!

More cases of veterans being flippant about the use of EasyUO.  It seems pretty common wouldn't you say? It is unfortunate the most discrete for of EasyUO use is also the most profitable - Idocs.

This is all certainly circumstantial and weak evidence.  Hell, I wouldn't call it "evidence" at all.  But one can't help but take note with all these pages and pages of accusations from veteran players something must be going on.Take all of this information and testimonial in for yourself, make a decision, and in the future deal with this item and Ohm as you see fit.  My only goal is to inform and point out trends.

So keep this in mind when bidding for this item.  It is still rare.  It is still quite valuable.  I am not asking anyone to not buy this item.  I am not asking Derrick to ban Ohm and Co.  I am simply making a permanent record of how this item was likely acquired, and ask any self-respecting player and pixel collector to reevaluate the value of this item.

Goodbye traders.
